Starting at the Kingborough Sports Centre, Kingston, and finishing on Kingston Beach, the runners will be passing an area that creates the need for road closures that may impact you.
Please check the following information and adjust travel times accordingly.
The race commences at 9:00 am, Sunday, 3rd December, with final runners through to finish by 10:30 am.
This event will start at the Kingborough Sports Centre.
Participants will proceed down Gormley Drive to Summerleas Road and onto Whitewater Creek track. Participants will be off public streets until they emerge at Huon Highway between the Southern Outlet and the Channel Highway (near John St roundabout).
Participants then progress along Beach Road and Balmoral Road to the finish line at Osborne Esplanade.
This course has been selected to ensure a greater safety level for participants and other road users.
To minimise the safety risk to runners in this event, Tasmania Police will close the following roads at the stated times:
(8:50 am - 9:20 am) Gormley Drive
(9:00 am - 10:00 am) Summerleas Road from Gormley Drive to 200m south of Willowbend Road
(9:00 am - 10:00 am) Huon Highway between Southern Outlet and Channel Highway
(9:00 am - 9:45 am) Huon Road from Channel Highway to Balmoral Road (southbound lanes only)
(9:10 am - 10:30 am) Balmoral Road to Osbourne Esplanade
(9:10 am - 10:30 am) Osbourne Esplanade from Balmoral Road to Victoria Street.
Roads will only be closed when participants are on or approaching each closed section. As the field of runners reduces, the roads will be reopened.
Imposing these road closures may mean traffic delays, congestion, and interruptions along the route.
Some motorists can expect to be inconvenienced, and access to businesses along the route may be from side streets.
Police would like motorists to restrict unnecessary travel in and around the event route for the duration of the event.
Police, SES, and other personnel will be located at most of these points.
Metro buses will run according to schedules; however, some delays may occur. Patrons are asked to be patient.
Tasmania Police are managing the traffic issues relating to this event and will be present in high numbers along the route to reduce risk.
