BACK ON TRACK
After last year’s event had to be transferred from its usual May time to September, the 17 th
Annual Kingston Beach Fun Run is back to its usual time slot on the 26 th May 2019.
Due to the storm damage to the course last May, an alternate longer distance was
necessary for the September event, however the usual 5km course will be run this year from
the Kingborough Sports Centre, commencing at 9:00am, and finishing on the lovely Kingston
The community event especially encourages family groups to participate and this year
challenges business groups to include the event as part of their Wellbeing Program.
The event has been held continuously since 2003, with the first event run from the old
Kingston High School site. To recognise the significance of its roots, the Kingston Rotary
Club is partnering with TA Accredited Coach, Peter McKenna (Try a Tri), and will be
conducting some “training sessions” at the Kingston Park Community Hub from Wednesday
24 th April at 6:30am, on Sundays at 7:30am and Friday nights at 6:00pm. All are welcome
and the sessions are targeted at all levels.
Once again there are many great prizes on offer including $700, for the more serious
runners; and heaps of spot prizes. These include a Gift Voucher from Pennicott Cruises, and
two bikes for the kids, donated by Rotarian Jill Sward.
Entry fees are $15 for children under 16; $40 for an adult and $95 for a family of more than three
members. All proceeds from the Fun Run are used to assist local community youth projects.
