BACK ON TRACK

After 2020 when the event had to be cancelled due to COVID-19 18th Annual Kingston Beach Fun Run is back to its usual time slot on the 23rd May 2021.
The usual 5km course will be run this year from the Kingborough Sports Centre, commencing at 9:00am, and finishing on the lovely Kingston Beach.

The event has been held continuously since 2003, (we are not counting 2020!) with the first event run from the old Kingston High School site.

Once again there are many great prizes on offer.  1st $200, 2nd $100 and 3rd $50 male and female, for the more serious runners; and heaps of spot prizes. These include a Gift Voucher from Pennicott Cruises, and two mountain bikes for the kids, donated by Rotarian Jill Sward.

Entry fees are $15 for children under 16; $40 for an adult and $95 for a family of more than three members.

All proceeds from the Fun Run are used to assist local community youth projects.

As numbers are limited for the Fun Run, it is suggested that participants get in early to register.

Enquiries can be addressed to Else Phillips on 0408 416 375 or at funrun.kingston@rotary9830.org.au

Important Must Read Information:

COVID - 19 SAFETY PLAN

All entries will be prebooked online. On the day participants will check-in at Kingston Sea scout Hall- Twin Ovals Road, Kingston (7:30-8:30) and be asked to scan the "Check-in Tas" App when they pick up their “bibs”.

Volunteers will be asked to sanitise hands on arrival at the course, and regularly during the event. The event will provide hand sanitiser and will be available to participants.

There will be multiple lines, manned by volunteers to allow social distancing. Participants are requested to provide their email addresses as part of the registration process.

Evidence suggests that outdoor environments are significantly less likely to contribute to the transmission of COVID-19 than indoor events. So Participants are asked to move from the start field area as soon as the check-in and bib collection is completed.

Social Distancing applies.
Participants and volunteers are to avoid physical greetings (i.e. handshaking, kissing, hugging, etc) Participants will be requested not to spit on the course, nor "high five" or engage in any other non-essential contact and to socially distance where practical.

All volunteers and participants are to do a self-assessment for any COVID-19 symptoms. No one should attend the KBFR if they, or someone they live with, has a high temperature, continuous cough, a loss, or change to, their sense of smell or taste. No one should present if they have been instructed to self-isolate, by a health professional. This will be reinforced prior to the race and those that need to go home, will not be allowed to participate.

At the start of the Kingston Beach Fun run and Walk enough area of open space will be available to ensure participants can socially distance themselves.

The Start Line will be considered to maximise the available space for each participant and minimise the amount of time participants spend in proximity to each other.

Participants will be called to the Starting Line as close to the start time as possible. Participants will be asked to "seed" themselves with faster runners (under 25 minutes) will be asked to move to the front. There will be a break between the next fastest (25 -35 minutes) and then a break between runners/walkers (35 - 45 minutes) and then the last group who will be walkers (45+ minutes).

At the completion of the race, water will be provided from a water station and Rotarians wearing gloves will fill cups and handout all drinks to participants. The area will be regularly sanitised. There will be plentiful garbage containers to ensure cups can be disposed of easily.

The Finish Line will be in an open area on Kingston Beach and widened so there will be no queue buildup at the Finish Line. All finishing participants will be asked to immediately exit the finish line area and to maintain social distancing. Certificate packs will be available at the beach.

Buses will be provided after the race to return participants back to the Sports Centre. All will be asked to sanitize prior to loading onto the buses.

Please note activities are subject to change and can vary due to ongoing changes in COVID regulations

Any changes to the event due to Tas Covid or Emergency will be posted here and on our Facebook page.
